Iliad 2022: The face that launched a thousand ships.

Always her. Always Helen. A symbol of beauty, a prize to be obtained first by Menelaus, then by Paris.

But who is she? and in 2022?

A queen without crown but adored by millions. Beutiful and talented in attracting people. So Helen could only be a famous actress. Her presence is everywhere. Everyone knows her and wants to be her or be with her. But nobody understands Helen. She is still a prize and a symbol of beauty and success.

I planned three costumes for her.... 2 of her glamourous persona. And the third, the real, breathing, flesh and blood woman who never intended to be one (lame) excuse for war or be treated as the symbol of man's power and virility.

In both images, Helen is the same symbol as it was in Homer's epic. Satin, heels, make

up, Egyptian cotton, cocrodile skin, beautiful shiny hair... Her body is shown in elegance and wealth. She is the image of one country, the best PR campaign Agammenon and Menelaus could dream of. Helen offers the facade of beauty, youth and unconcern, that life is easy for her.

Real Helen

Helen here is just a young woman, with simple and cozyt fabrics, using glasses because she is shortsighted - a shortsight condition that betrayed her when she went with Paris - loving to read, be barefoot, and freeing her tummy and breast from constraints.

Relaxed and freed from adoring or envious gazes, all that this Helen wants, maybe, is just a university professor grading papers next to her while she is reading a book…
