Iliad 2022: Cassandra, Briseis and Odysseus.

The last post of these series. And the three very important in this modern retelling. But giving a bit more of an accent on the women.

Cassandra: not heard, and overwhelm by all that is happening.

Briseis: the sweet spiritual young woman whose work would become important not only for the injured, but also as an expression of that even in bleak circumstances there is always hope.

Odysseus, the brave, intelligent Odysseus who did not want to go to war but was forced to due to circumstances. The clear headed, practical man, who, like his enemy, longs to go back home after doing his duty.

Journalist

Cassandra, the prophetess in the epic, here becomes an independent journalist that, with the help of the first lady and the political opposition of Sparta, tries to convince her family and country of what is coming to them. Even with proof, Cassandra cannot break the limits of politics and personal ambitions on both sides. She dresses comfortably, ready for action, ready to search for the truth, with affordable simple outfits and a few items that represent her: lots of bracelets, shawls, ankle boots that let her walk with precision and strength.

Novce nurse

This Briseis is the young cousin with an immense spiritual thirst and a compassionate heart, who takes both her work as a nurse and her faith. That is why she is portrayed here as a novice nurse. Briseis is the one in daily touch with the suffering of the body and the soul. She dresses not to draw attention to herself, but to honor her commitments. In green colours and earthy tones, Briseis outfits and the fabrics speak of calm,hope, warmth and love.

Navy Captain

Intelligent soldier, favoured by Athena - the goddess of wisdom - and the ultimate pawn that brings down Troy, in here Odysseus is a navy captain. Smart and loyal, astute and reliable, his world is the sea and his island. He is at war because he has to, not because he wants to. His fight is honorable. That is why he is sketched with his impeccable white captain uniform and poses with strength and poise.
